The Cambodia 2000 project – Stage II
This project is co-financed by the European Commission; the Provincial
governments of Alessandria (Italy), Limburg (Belgium), and Kampong Thon
(Cambodia); ICS, AMAG, ATO5, ATO6. Hydroaid is a scientific partner of the project.
The Cambodia 2000 project waterworks
will bring fresh drinking water to the nearly 9,000 inhabitants of the
city of Taing Krasaing currently facing serious health risks from the
river water they use for their everyday needs.
Stage II of the Cambodia
2000 project, which includes training in the management of drinking water resources
and building of the Taing Krasaing waterworks, is part of the European Asia
Urbs project that fosters relationships between local Asian and European
administrations through decentralized cooperation.
Hydroaid’s part in
the project is to organize training seminars for 30--40 administrative
engineers as local water district managers. The courses are scheduled
for late 2006 in Phnom Penh.
