The Hydroaid distance learning programme on Sanitation is enriched with the technical course "Urban Waste Recycling". This module offers an in depth course on one of the most relevant subject related to environmental sustainability and globalisation phenomena in developing countries.
The course has a managerial address even if some technical aspects are presented.
The programme include: a picture on the legislation frame in the western countries in order to introduce the law instruments to manage a recycling process at a national scale; the life cycle assessment of a product in order to evaluate its impact on the environment and its potential for recycling; the main elements to set up an industrial plan; the managerial organisation of the process; the main steps for waste separation; the technical aspects for the valorisation of some specific wastes.
The Urban Waste Recycling technical course is recommended to high rank technicians and managers of the developing and emerging countries to improve the capability of the local authorities in managing and governing the waste resources for the conservation of water and soil from pollution phenomena.
Participation is open to 80 professionals -with a technical educational background- from Latin America, Africa, Asia, Balkans and the Middle East.
This course is a complement to the courses of the Hydroaid's distance learning programme on Sanitation.
