
Umberto Triulzi is Professor of Political Economy and International
Economy, Faculty of Political Sciences, “La Sapienza" University, Rome
and Scientific Director of IPALMO (Institute for Relations between Italy
and Africa, Latin America and the Middle-East).
Teaching-related Research/Activities
Its main fields of interest are International Economics and Political
Economy, with particular attention to Development Cooperation Policies.
He is Lecturer at several post-doctorate schools and consultant of various
private and public institutions on Trade and International Economic
Policies subjects. He is the author of essays and articles on the topics
of economic development and international economy with particular attention
to vulnerability issues and time inconsistency of development cooperation
policies. His most recent publications have dealt with European Economic

Other Research Activities
As Director of Ipalmo Research Unit, he is engaged in programs and project on Global Water Policies carried out in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and several International and European Organizations (FAO, UN DESA, EU Water Initiative, World Water Council). On this particular issue, Ipalmo latest publications supervised by Prof. Triulzi have dealt with monitoring of water systems:
- Environmental Vulnerability, Monitoring and Governance of Risk Prevention Systems in the Water Sector (paper elaborated on behalf of the Italian Coordination Platform on the occasion of the 4th World Water Forum, Mexico City, 16-22 March 2006)
- Designing and implementing a Monitoring and Reporting System for Water Policies (paper elaborated on behalf of the EUWI Monitoring and Reporting Working Group on the occasion of the World Water Week 2006, Stockholm, 20-26 August 2006).
