Born inSaluzzo in 1952, graduated at the University of Torino (Laurea) in Biological Sciences in 1975. Spent several years in foreign Universities [Wageningen University, The Netherlands (1981, 9 months); Maryland University (1983-1984, 9 months), Cornell University (1988-1989,16 months) and Pennsylvania State University (1992, 3 months), USA). Assistant Professor (1980-1986), Associate Professor (1986-2000) and Professor (2000-present) in Biological and integrated Plant Disease Management, School in Biotechnology (University of Torino), with main interest in plant disease management, biological control of diseases and. sustainable plant protection. Co-author of 5 books, published over 300 scientific articles and reviews on Italian and international Journals on biological and integrated disease management, fungicide resistance, risks related to the release of biocontrol agents. Most articles appeared on referred papers. Chair of the Italian Society for Crop Protection (A.I.P.P.)(1998-present) and of the Italian Association of the Agricultural Scientific Societies (AISSA) (2002-2004) and Vice-President of the International Society for Plant Pathology (ISPP) (2002-present). Member of International Committees dealing with environmental aspects related to the use of pesticides Consultant of Italian Ministry for the Environment and Territory on agro-environmental issues since 1994. Chair of the Committee on International Affairs of the University of Torino (1998-present) and member of the Committee on Research Planning of the University of Torino. Editor of Informatore Fitopatologico - La Difesa delle piante, a journal belonging to the group Il Sole-24 Ore since 2000. Director of the Centre of Competence for the Innovation in the agro-environmental sector (AGROINNOVA) of the University of Torino since 2002. Awarded of the Novamont Prize on Sustainable development in 2002, the GAMMA DONNA special mention in 2004 by the Unione industriale of Torino, due to the innovation and creativity of the Center of Competence AGROINNOVBA developed at University of Torino and the van Den Brande prize from the University of Gent (Belgium), due to her achievements in the field of crop protection.
