Dr. Rossella Monti is General Manager of
Hydroaid. The Board of Directors appointed her General Manager effective March 5th
2005.
In 2002 through 2005, Dr. Monti was the Director of the Water Security
Department of Landau Network Centro Volta, a non-profit and non-governmental
organization operating as an international network. Her projects were
mainly focused on security and international policy issues such as those
related to regional stability and water security in the Middle East and
the Balkans. Dr. Monti is still a Scientific Member of LNCV.
From 2000-2005 Dr. Monti worked as independent consultant on environmental
and water management issues for public and private bodies in USA, Russia,
Israel and Italy.
From 1997-2004 Dr. Monti was also the Secretary General of Terr@A, Hydraulic
Res. Centre for the Environment, a non profit Association based at Politecnico
of Milano that developed innovative research on water resources management
issues.
From 1996 until 1999, Dr. Monti worked as “Scientific Agent”
at the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission, Nuclear Safety
Unit. She took part in the international project STORM on nuclear accident
and she was given the task of supervising and developing the international
project on drag reduction in environmental and industrial fluid flows,
financed by the EC DGXI Technological Transfer (crf post Kyoto directives).
The project involved Israeli, Russian, Monégasque and Italian industries,
research centers and universities.
From 1994-1996, she worked in the field of research together
with several academic capacities, including Politecnico di Milano, Brescia
University, as Post Doctorate Fellow; Tel Aviv University Faculty of Engineering,
as Post Doctorate Senior Visiting Fellow at the Department of Fluid Mechanics.
Dr. Monti hold the M.Sc. in environmental engineering (1990) and a Ph.D.
in Hydraulic Engineering (1994) from Politecnico di Milano.
Dr. Monti has published over 50 papers and 4 books in river
hydraulics, erosion control, turbulence and chaos, nonlinear phenomena
in turbulence in fluids.
Dr. Monti chaired international conferences and gave several lectures
worldwide at well-known institutes.
Her latest scientific contributions are in the field of turbulence
control and drag reduction.
