- consumption planning in view of availability (regional water balance);
- techniques to make “additional” water available in areas where this
resource is scarce (water recycling, desalination, compensation management
at regional scale; collection of meteoric waters, etc);
- efficient use of irrigation water in agriculture;
- groundwater protection techniques (such as the replenishment of
water tables;
- groundwater management, polluting agent collection techniques.);
- hydraulic protection of the territory (floods);
- environmental preservation (minimum vital down-flow);
- management of man -made and natural water reserves;
- efficient management of captation and distribution systems and waste
water collection and disposal systems;
- implementation of criteria for the administrative management of
water (technical and administrative reorganization of district water
supply agencies);
- planning and implementation of structural and non-structural interventions
against extreme drought, desertification and land erosion;
- liquid waste disposal;
- management of monitoring networks and organization of databases,
alarms and warning signals and the like.
